Spikelets 2–4 mm long, obtuse or acute. Racemes up to 7 cm long but often much shorter. Erect or ascending perennial, tufted but with a short rhizome. Culms rigid, up to c. 80 cm high. Widespread. Drier sandy soils. Fl. spring–summer Entolasia stricta
