Leaves 2.5 mm wide or wider; usually in whorls of 4, rarely 3 or 5; glabrous on the upper surface; the margins recurved or revolute. Branches undersurface of the leaves and the calyx hoary-tomentose with appressed hairs. Corolla 14 mm long. Compact shrub 1–2 m high. Near the sea; extensively planted as an ornamental.
