Trees or shrubs. Leaves opposite, compound or palmately lobed, usually deciduous; stipules absent. Flowers often unisexual, greenish or yellowish, arranged in corymbs or racemes, 5-merous but stamens often 8; disc usually prominent. Ovary 2-locular, superior. Fruit a 2-winged schizocarp (“samara”).
