Glaucous, glabrous annuals up to 1.5 m high. Leaves alternate up to 12 cm long, spiny-toothed or lobed, mottled with white. Flowers solitary, sessile or nearly so, on short branches. Sepals 3, horned. Petals 6, c. 25 mm long. Fruit a capsule, oblong to ovoid, up to 5 cm long.
