Pappus scales longer than broad. Body of the cypsela minutely but densely tuberculate, cuneate, flattened, 1.5–2.5 mm long; awns 4–5, unequally barbed at the tip. Lower leaves cuneate, c. 3 cm long and 8 mm wide, with 5–7 acute lobes near the tips; upper leaves narrower, sessile. Heads c. 2 cm diam. Rays blue, 7 mm long. Perennial up to 30 cm high.
