Shrubs or small trees, monoecious or polygamous, up to 4m high. Leaves alternate, dentate or entire. Flowers polygamous, 5–4-merous; male flowers clustered; female flowers often solitary in leaf axils. Ovary with 2 divergent styles. Fruit a succulent drupe.
