Annual or perennial herbs. Leaves basal and forming a rosette or cauline and alternate. Heads terminal, pedunculate, in loose corymbose panicles. Involucral bracts herbaceous with scarious margins, in 3 rows. Florets all ligulate; rays yellow, sometimes marked with red. Cypselas terete, ribbed, sometimes beaked.
