Corolla 12–15 mm, long covered with dense dark grey woolly hairs outside. Hairs on the short flowering branches usually brown. Leaves stellate tomentose underneath, becoming scabrous on the upper surface, elliptic to nearly orbicular, 1–6 cm long, entire or toothed. Shrub with several stems, up to 1 m high. Widespread. Open forests. Sandy soils. Fl. spring–summer
