Shrubs or trees. Flowers in axillary panicles shorter than the leaves. Floral tube short. Perianth segments 6, open. Stamens 3 alternating with 3 staminodes. Ovary ± enclosed in the floral tube but later enlarged. Fruit a black berry, not enclosed by the floral tube.
