Tall, spreading tree c. 10 m high, with branched thorns. Leaves bipinnate; pinnules c. 20 per leaflet, elliptic-ovate, 15–20 mm long, 6–8 mm wide, obscurely dentate, ciliate. Flowers in long narrow axillary racemes. Legumes 30–40 cm long, compressed, falcate, ± twisted. Naturalized along creeks in Picton area and sometimes near old habitations. Introd. from N. America.
