Leaf segments 3–5 mm wide, smooth or obscurely ridged. Leaves 4–10 cm long. Perianth tip with distinct villous hairs. Cones subglobular, mostly 12–20 mm diam. Young shoots, and sometimes branches, pubescent. Shrub 1–2 m high. Widespread. DSF and heath. Ss. Fl. spring
