Leaves stem clasping, with rounded auricles, cordate-ovate, 12–25 mm long. Flowers in elongated spikes, much exceeding the leaves. Straggling shrub up to 80 cm high. Coast and adjacent plateaus. Sheltered places in DSF. Sandy soils. Fl. winter–spring
