Glabrous shrub. Leaves narrow-oblong to lanceolate, 1–7 cm long, entire or toothed, coriaceous. Flowers in short axillary or lateral racemes, greenish; pedicels slender, 4–6 mm long. Petals c. 2 mm long, broad-ovate. Capsule globular or ovoid, 2-locular, 4–6 mm diam., yellowish-brown when dry. Widespread. Open forests. Fl. spring–summer
