Monoecious, heath-like shrubs with many branches. Leaves linear to broad-lanceolate or oblong, sessile, in groups of 3, the groups alternate. Flowers very small, solitary or few together, axillary. Male flowers with 3–9 free stamens, and rudimentary ovary. Female flower with 3-locular ovary; styles 3, simple.
