Small shrubs. Leaves simple, alternate opposite or in whorls of 3. Flowers sessile or shortly pedicellate, in small axillary or terminal clusters or short racemes. Bracts and bracteoles small or absent. Calyx lobes nearly equal in length. Corolla orange to yellow or yellow and red, or pink to reddish-purple or bluish. Ovary and legume divided longitudinally into 2 compartments by a false-septum projecting into the loculus from the lower suture. Ovules 2–many.
