Shrubs or small trees with buds covered in brownish or reddish-brown hairs. Flowers in axillary clusters mostly on old wood. Calyx and corolla 4–5-lobed. Corolla 3–4 mm long. Anthers erect, almost sessile. Style short. Fruit a small almost globular drupe (previously Rapanea).
