Shrubs or small trees. Leaves coriaceous. Flowers small in short simple axillary racemes sometimes reduced to sessile clusters. Calyx small, 4-toothed. Petals 4, yellowish, small, connected in pairs by the filaments, induplicate-valvate in the bud. Ovary 2-locular with 2 ovules per loculus; style short. Fruit drupaceous. Seed solitary.
