Capsule linear-obovoid, 20–25 cm long, villous. Flowers 3–4 cm diam. Leaves narrow-ovate to narrow-elliptic, up to 7 cm long and 15 mm wide, villous, tapering towards the apex, acute, dentate. Erect herb up to 50 cm high. Coast. Disturbed ground or on sand dunes. Introd. from S. America. Fl. spring
