Small tree with downy branches. Leaves bipinnate, up to 20 cm long, with 6–12 pairs of pinnae; pinnules 20–40 per pinna, linear-oblong, 6–8mm long, with the principal vein near the edge, glabrous above, silky hairy below. Flowers in dense cylindrical axillary spikes 4–8 cm long, 1–3 spikes per axil. Filaments greenish yellow, c. 1 cm long, connate. Legume c. 10 cm long, 8mm wide. Seeds 8–11, placed transversely; funicle red. Slender shrub. Naturalized on the coast. Introd. from W. Aust. Crested Wattle
