Small, glabrous tree, sometimes with weak branches and resembling a climber. Leaves alternate, elliptic or ovate to narrow-ovate, entire, acuminate, thin, 8–14 cm long, marked underneath by domatia in the forks of lateral veins. Flowers numerous on short pedicels, in broad rather dense panicles, either terminal or in the upper axils, bisexual or unisexual. Calyx absent or rudimentary. Fruit an ovoid drupe c. 12 mm long.
