Deciduous tree to 20 m high; branchlets hairy; dioecious. Leaves alternate, 10–25 cm long; petiole 4–10 cm long. Leaflets ± opposite, 8–14, lanceolate, 5–9 cm long, 10–20 mm wide. Inflorescence a panicle, flowers yellow-green, 5-merous. Stamens 5 inserted below disk. Ovary 1-locular. Fruit globose and laterally compressed, 5–6 mm long, red when immature, purple at maturity.
