Glabrous tree which frequently begins life on the trunks of tree ferns where the seed germinates. Leaves alternate, broad- to narrow-elliptic, 5–10 cm long, thick, entire. Flowers numerous in a terminal racemose panicle. Floral tube obconical. Calyx teeth 5, persistent. Petals 5, white, 4 mm long. Stamens 5. Ovary inferior, 3–5-locular; style 3–5-furrowed, persistent; stigma 3–5-lobed. Fruit an inferior capsule; the persistent style separating up to the stigmas. Widespread. RF. Fl. spring. Possum Wood
