Sterile leaves dimorphic; those on the upper surface appressed, narrowly ovate, attenuate, 1–2 mm long, with finely toothed margins; those on the lower surface spreading on the soil, broadly lanceolate, 2–4 mm long, with finely toothed margins. Aerial stems prostrate, creeping, much branched. Strobili lateral on the branches. Common garden weed and nursery escape, naturalized in places. Introd. from central and southern.
