Small, diffuse herbs. Leaves basal and cauline; cauline leaves alternate, finely dissected. Heads sessile. Involucral bracts in 2 rows. Outer florets female, in 2–3 rows; corolla absent with thick wings tapering to the persistent style. Inner florets bisexual but sterile. Cypselas compressed; style persistent as a spine. Pappus absent.
