Scrambling shrub up to 3 m high. Leaflets 5–9, elliptic to ovate, 10–40 mm long. Flowers in terminal racemes. Corolla 5–6 cm long, orange to red; tube curved; lobes c. 10 mm long. Capsule linear to narrow-oblong, up to 65 mm long. Coast. Garden escape naturalized in places. Introd. from S. Africa. Fl. spring–summer. Cape Honeysuckle
