Perennial or annual, glabrous herbs. Stems erect or procumbent. Leaves basal or cauline; cauline leaves alternate. Flowers in terminal racemes. Calyx campanulate, 5-lobed; tube very short and broad. Stamens 5. Ovary and fruit half-inferior. Capsule opening in 5 valves.
