Rigid, ± hairy shrub with ribbed branches ending in spines. Leaves narrow, rigid, spiny. Calyx c. 15 mm long, hairy, divided to the base into 2 lips; upper lip with 2 small teeth; lower lip with 3 teeth. Corolla bright yellow, slightly longer than the calyx. Widespread.
