Capsule less than twice as long as broad, obconic, 3–8 mm long. Leaves obovate to oblanceolate at the base of the stem, 4–95 mm long, 1–11 mm wide, obtuse to acute, glabrous to hirsute. Corolla lobes 6–14 mm long. Tufted perennial up to 70 cm high, with few stems from the base but branching above. Widespread. Open forest and grasslands. Fl. most of the year
