Palea broad-ovate, obtuse, usually only shortly exceeding the sinus of the lemma. Lateral lobes of the lemma less than twice as long as the body. Central awn slightly twisted and reflexed. Glumes subequal, 10–15 mm long. Densely tufted perennial up to 1 m high. Cumberland Plain (but probably now extinct there); Awaba. Grasslands and open forests. Fl. spring–summer
