Hairs on the awn more than 1 mm long. Lemma 6–8 mm long; awn 7–9 cm long, with 2 bends; the column 1 cm long, twisted. Panicle dense, 20–25 cm long. Tufted perennials up to 80 cm high. Leaf blades inrolled, 20–30 cm long. Coast. Sandy soils and rocky areas. Fl. summer. Soft Spear Grass
