Austrostipa nitida (Summerh. & C.E.Hubb.) S.W.L.Jacobs & J.Everett

Panicle dense, base partly enclosed by upper leaf sheath. Glumes green and shiny. New shoots emerging from within the axis of the leaf sheath. Awn 4.5–7 cm long. Lemma 4–6 mm long, ± scabrous. Tufted perennial to 1 m high. Leaf blades flat or inrolled, to 40 cm long. Sandy soils. Fl. in response to rain
