Baeckea
12 species endemic Aust.; Qld, NSW, Vic., Tas.
Shrubs mostly up to 1 m high, often heath-like. Leaves opposite. Flowers solitary or in small cymes in the axils of the upper leaves. Floral tube continued shortly above the ovary. Sepals usually persistent. Petals red to white. Stamens 5–c. 20, in a single whorl not opposite centre of petal. Anthers versatile. Ovary 2–locular. Fruit a capsule.
