Terrestrial herb 15–50 cm high, with underground tubers. Leaf solitary, basal, oblong to lanceolate, 6–10 cm long. Flowers 1–4, not resupinate. Sepals and petals linear, red-brown, rarely green, 20 mm long. Labellum smooth. Column without an elongated foot, appressed to the ovary. Widespread. Fl. spring–summer. Bee Orchid or Duck Orchid
