Inflorescence compact, capitate (in NSW). Culms slender, erect, rigid. Leaves 1–2 mm wide. Bracts 3–4. Spikelets ovate to linear-oblong, in globular heads. Glumes reddish, 1-nerved on the sides; keel greenish or pallid, cellulose-reticulate; apex acute, excurrent. Nut less than half as long as the glume. Coast. Uncommon. Introd. from S. America
