6 species naturalized Aust.; all states and territoriesRobust, annual herbs up to 1.5 m high, with an unpleasant odour. Stems green to purplish. Leaves alternate, usually opposite towards the top, petiolate, glabrous or nearly so. Flowers apparently solitary in the forks of the branches; pedicels elongating in the fruiting stage. Calyx 5-angled, acutely 5-toothed. Corolla funnel-shaped, white or purplish. Stamens 5, enclosed in the corolla tube. Ovary 2-locular. Capsule ovoid, 4-locular by a secondary dissepiment, armed with pickles.
