Diospyros australis (R.Br.) Hiern

Calyx and corolla lobes 4. Leaves 3–10 cm long, elliptic, rounded or blunt at the apex, dark green on the upper surface, paler or yellowish underneath. Fruit ovoid, black, c. 15 mm long; the persistent calyx enlarged to 6–10 mm diam. Shrub or small tree. Coast and gullies in adjacent plateaus, e.g. Royal National Park and Illawarra region. RF.
