Spikelet with 1 terminal bisexual floret and 2 sterile lemmas below it, pedicellate, in a terminal panicle, disarticulating above the glumes. Glumes awnless, closely appressed to 2 larger, awned, sterile lemmas. Fertile lemmas awnless. Palea absent. Lodicules large, thin. Stamens 6.
