Erect terrestrial or lithophytic herb. Stems terete to 1 m long. Leaves cauline, leathery, spreading, 1.5–12 cm long. Flowers red, orange or yellow in a terminal inflorescence. Sepals spreading 10–22 mm long. Petal with undulate margin, 12–20 mm long. Labellum deeply 3-lobed, mid-lobed retuse to deeply lobed. Callus 3-horned. Fruit 2.5–4 cm long. Occasionally naturalized in coastal areas. Introd. from C. & S. America. Fl. all year
