Adult leaves bluish when fresh, 10–18 x 2–3 cm; lateral veins irregular; angle 20–40°; intramarginal vein up to 5 mm from the margin. Juvenile leaves lanceolate to ovate, softly tomentose. Fruit hemispherical or globular-truncate, compressed, 5–6 x 8 mm, usually sessile, crowded into dense heads, often becoming angular at maturity; disc broad, flat or convex; valves enclosed or their tips exserted. Umbels 7–15-flowered; peduncles usually compressed, 7–12 mm long. Operculum conical, beaked, c. as long as the floral tube. Tree up to c. 30 m high. Widespread. DSF on sandy soils. Fl. autumn–winter.
