Eucalyptus piperita
Fruit ovoid ellipsoid or urceolate 6–8 mm long, 6–7 mm wide, pedicellate. Tree up to 20 m high with a short bole and spreading branches. Bark shortly fibrous on the lower trunk and larger branches, smooth and shedding in ribbons on the smaller branches. Leaves 6–14 x 1–3 cm; lateral veins irregular; angle 20–40°; intramarginal vein fine, 1–3 mm from margin. Umbels 7–15-flowered; peduncles slightly compressed, 6–10 mm long. Operculum conical-acute, c. as long as the floral tube. Widespread. DSF. Ss, usually sides of valleys. Fl. early summer. Sydney Peppermint (sometime split into the subspecies piperita and urceolaris based on the shape of the fruit and operculum.)
