Perianth 8–10 mm long, pink. Pedicel glabrous. Flowers mostly borne on old stems below the leaves. Fruit 40–50 mm diam., rough, usually contracted into a short beak. Leaves 5–7 cm long. Young stems sparsely pubescent. Bushy shrub up to 2 m high. Coast and adjacent plateau. DSF. Ss. Fl. autumn–winter
