Erect, perennial herb with corms. Leaves linear, mostly radical, up to 8 cm long and 3 mm wide. Flowers solitary or 2–3 together on long peduncles with a sheathing spathe. Perianth blue; outer whorl longer than the inner and scarcely connate at the base. Stamens adnate to the perianth below; filaments connate into a tube; anthers sessile on the tube. Style branches filiform, 2-fid. Grasslands around Sydney. Introd. from S. America
