Decumbent to prostrate herbs often rooting at the nodes, slightly succulent. Leaves opposite, sessile or shortly stalked, elliptic to ovate. Flowers pedunculate, solitary in the upper axils. Calyx tubular, 5-toothed. Corolla 5-lobed, slightly 2-lipped, tubular towards the base. Stamens 4. Stigmas 2, flap-like, closing together when touched. Fruit a capsule surrounded by the persistent calyx.
