Mericarps with large papillae; adaxial face with a raised ridge, 2–3 mm long. Leaves elliptic to ovate or obovate, up to 5 cm long. Flowers c. 20 or more per head. Corolla mostly 6-lobed; tube 3–8 mm long. Prostrate to ascending annual with stems up to 50 cm long. Coast. Weed of waste places and cultivation. Introd. from S. America. Fl. spring–autumn.
