Mature berry greenish yellow to black, globular 20–30 mm diam., with an enlarged prickly calyx. Prickles numerous on the stems. Leaves ovate to elliptic, 5–13 cm long; tomentum denser underneath where many stellate hairs also occur. Flowers few in lateral raceme-like cymes. Corolla blue to violet, c. 25 mm diam. Small, coarse shrub up to 1 m high. Cumberland Plain; Blue Mts DSF; WSF. Fl. most of the year
