Mature berry glossy, brownish green to dark brown, reticulate; the calyx membranous and c. half as long. Hairs on the stems and leaves mostly glandular. Corolla with triangular to narrow-triangular reflexed lobes. Infructescence raceme-like, with a few short internodes. Style equal to or slightly exceeding the anthers. Sprawling annual up to 70 cm high. Widespread. Weed of cultivation and waste places. Introd. from S. America. Fl. summer
