Ferns of erect or straggling habit, forming dense thickets. Rhizome long-creeping, clothed with scales. Fronds uniform, pinnate or repeatedly pseudo-dichotomously branched; accessory branches at the nodes absent. Ultimate branches and some of the preceding axes pectinato-pinnate. Pinnules oblong or linear, often glaucous beneath. Dormant leaf-apices clothed with scales. Veins free, once forked, rarely the lowest pair twice or thrice branched. Sori numerous, rosette-like, mostly in a single row on either side of the midrib, composed of 1–6 (mostly 4) sporangia. Paraphyses present. Spores bilateral.
