Trees or shrubs. Leaves alternate, often crowded towards the ends of the branches. Sepals persistent into fruiting. Petals yellow. Stamens connate into bundles opposite the petals. Ovary 3-locular with several ovules in each loculus. Fruit a capsule, exserted beyond the floral tube. 1 Leaves pubescent underneath, oblanceolate, 6–12 cm long, with scattered oil glands. Petals obovate, 4–5 mm long. Stamen bundles shorter than petals. Tree to 30 m high. Widespread. Usually along streams. Fl. summer. Water Gum or Kanuka T laurina (Sm.) Peter G.Wilson & J.T.Waterh.1 Leaves glabrous underneath, elliptic, 4–10 cm long, with numerous dense oil glands. Petals orbicular, up to 3 mm diam. Stamen bundles c. as long as the petals. Shrub or tree up to c. 30 m high. Coast and adjacent plateaus; Illawarra ranges. RF and WSF, only rarely along streams. Fl. summer. Mountain Water Gum
