Leaves narrow-linear, less than 2 mm wide. Peduncles 0.5–1 mm diam. Flower heads ovoid to ellipsoid, 6–8 mm long, 3–5 mm diam. Bracts 6–14; the basal ones closely appressed. Flowers 1–4 per head. Widespread in damp soil in the open. Fl. spring–summer
