Glumes 1–3 nerved on either side of keel, straw-coloured, often marked with red-brown. Leaves to 2.5 cm long. Stamens 1. Nut unequally trigonous 0.5–0.6 wide. Tufted plant up to 10 cm high. Widespread. Damp places. Possibly introd. from S. Australia
